ATX DAO x Avalanche Artist Residency
In late 2023, ATX DAO selected 22 local artists for the Austin Artist Residency, featuring a variety of multimedia art forms. Within a month, artists were introduced to cryptocurrency and taught how to upload their works to the blockchain. Learn more.

Applications open during the week of the ATX DAO Pitch Competition, and close after SXSW on March 17, 2025. This extended period allows you to meet us at various events, including the ATX DAO Pitch Competition in Austin, ETHDenver, and SXSW. You can also ask questions anytime on Discord.

A working group of DAO members oversees the application process. After filtering out incomplete or spam submissions, eligible applications will be shared with DAO members to review and vote on. Rest assured, your data is protected, and only your answers and first name will be visible for the DAO to review.

We do our best to notify candidates who aren’t moving forward as quickly as possible. If you make it to the next stage, a DAO member will reach out through your preferred contact method—so double-check your info! They’ll set up a casual get-to-know-you call, where you can also ask any questions you have.

We value complete applications and thoughtful responses to the questions. Locality is a key criterion, as we prioritize applicants from Austin and the surrounding area who can actively engage in the local community. However, if you don’t live in Austin full-time but visit the city regularly, feel free to apply!

We aim to discourage applicants who view the membership NFT as a speculative investment. With the DAO membership, members gain access to the community, and we look for applicants with a genuine interest in contributing to the DAO.

This year, we’re offering the Memorial NFT, which will be awarded to an applicant experiencing financial hardship. This special NFT honors a valued ATX DAO member who passed away and will be awarded to one applicant who submits an impressive application but faces financial barriers.

The membership NFT is priced at 1 ETH, consistent with the last membership round. This cost helps protect the DAO from speculators and ensures applicants have a genuine interest in the community. If the cost is prohibitive, see the question above for an alternative option. The designs of the NFTs look like this (opensea). The NFTs may look different, but they all have the same value - the membership in the DAO.

The DAO currently has around 230 members, and we plan to onboard a maximum of 70 new members during this round.

As a member, you can:
Submit proposals for projects that improve the DAO.
Join an ongoing project and support the team, including engineering, marketing, and operations…
Connect with like-minded individuals and organize meetups.
Attend events with other members.
Exchange ideas and collaborate on crypto-related topics.
Vote on proposals from other members.

The majority of the revenue will go into the treasury to fund DAO initiatives. A smaller portion (up to $10,000) will go to the Membership Round Working Group to cover expenses for marketing, operations, onboarding, and IT.
